2023 Schedule

The 2023 schedule came together through three different means.

Pittsburgh and West Virginia

First, our second game of the year is the Backyard Brawl between Pittsburgh and West Virginia. This rivalry recently started back up after a few years of not being played. I have heard that this is one of the most heated rivalries in the country just by how much the two teams hate each other.

After setting this game, picking a game in Pittsburgh for week one against Cincinnati was the next logical choice. I do not usually like seeing the same team twice in a row, but it worked out best from a scheduling stand point. Plus, the match-up should be a fun one.

Oregon and Oregon State

The next set of games that came together were two match-ups in the state of Oregon in November. First, USC travels to Oregon. Autzen Stadium is one stadium I’ve been looking forward to visiting since the start of these travels. Going up against a USC team with Caleb Williams in the final year before the team jumps to the Big Ten should add some extra juice as well.

The following week, Washington will play at Oregon State right up the road in Corvallis. These are two teams that played much better in 2022 and should have some momentum going into this season. In between, there will also be a few days spent in Portland which is a fun city I have visited before, but only for a couple of days.

This left one final October game to fill in. For the second straight year, there were no local teams playing the weekend that I needed to attend a game. This led me to weighing several scenarios. I considered a couple games at UAB and Louisiana. I thought both of those trips would be very similar to my Southern Mississippi game from last year though.

Navy

Finally, it popped out pretty clearly. Air Force at Navy; a game between two of the service academies would be a great one to watch. Since Army/Navy is always played at a neutral site this would be the next best thing to be able to visit one of the actual academies. Thus, our schedule for 2023 was complete.

As always, there is always a chance things could change between now and September. If anything does come up, we’ll provide updates along the way. Looking forward for stadiums 21 through 25 this season!
