There are two things in life that I really enjoy, traveling and college football. I guess that’s why it makes sense for me to want to combine the two and to try to visit every FBS college football stadium. I want to experience all the different venues, all the different traditions, but, maybe even more, travel this country and take in as much as I can.
That was the original goal I had in mind when I decided to try to visit all fifty states. That was an adventure that is still going very well. As of June 2018, the count is up to thirty-four. In May 2017, while visiting North Dakota and South Dakota I started thinking about blogging about all my journeys. It would be fun to write about my adventures to Mount Rushmore or Teddy Roosevelt National Park. But, at the same time, I don’t know if that many people would be interested in other smaller visits like the World’s Only Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. I needed to find something that could fit more of a niche.
Then in September 2017 I took a trip to Columbus, Ohio, for the Oklahoma/Ohio State football game. I was able to spend some time traveling through Columbus and visiting the Columbus Zoo, the Ohio state house, and some great restaurants, such as Schmidt’s, a German restaurant that has been around for over 100 years. As I was on that trip, taking everything in, it hit me that this would be a blast to write about. Visit college campuses and then write about them. Give people an opportunity to see what each campus and, more broadly, each city had to offer. Maybe a place they can come to get ideas for trips they want to take to see their favorite team play on the road in some place new.
So, that is where this new journey begins. This process will probably evolve some over time as I get a better feel about the types of things to write about, getting ideas of what people like hearing about, and just enjoying the ride. After all, isn’t life better when you’re out able to take on the adventures and enjoying what it has to offer?!
